  • We walk in the steps of those who served on Horn Island during WW2, visiting underground rooms, gun emplacements, magazines, the airstrip, aircraft, slit trenches and more. Horn Island is the second most attacked location in Australia and was the base for approximately 5000 Australian, American soldiers and airmen, with the Navy stationed on Thursday Island.

We visit some beautiful scenic spots during our small group tour in an air-conditioned bus with Vanessa or Liberty as your guide. A small group allows you to personally interact with your guide. The commentary is a mix of archival records and personal stories told by the veterans themselves, this mix providing an informative and entertaining personal tour.

We also visit sites incorporated in Vanessa and Liberty’s WW2 Conservation Project, see the WW2 archaeological dig site and newest ten tonne addition at King Point.

Take away the historical colour book that is provided during the tour as a souvenir. A visit to the Torres Strait Heritage Museum is included in the tour, either prior or after the tour is concluded.
